Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane inaugurated the two day Mega International Summit on ‘Competitiveness and Growth in MSMEs’ organized by Ministry of MSME and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (SRI) in New Delhi. Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII informed that this two-day mega summit is being organized by the Ministry of MSME and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad. Experts from countries like India, Singapore, Peru, Lao PDR, Rwanda, Myanmar, Russia, Uzbekistan, Spain and Iran will share their experiences in the conference. Entrepreneurs, academicians, policy makers, industry think leaders, representatives from business, industry associations, startups, social impact organizations, MSMEs and self-help groups from across the globe are participating in the summit.
Speaking at the conference, Union Minister Narayan Rane said that the significant contribution of MSMEs to the country’s GDP cannot be denied. He said that since long MSMEs are working with minimum resources, yet they are contributing significantly to the GDP of the country. Therefore, it is necessary that the growth oriented small medium and micro enterprises become more robust. However, significant collective efforts have been made in this direction. On the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, work is being done in the direction of opening new avenues for MSMEs through various schemes of the Central Government.
He said that the central government has ensured that an undisputed credit flow to the MSME sector through financial institutions, technology support for development and modernization, access to export markets, infrastructure facilities, training and capacity building facilities and welfare of the workforce.
