New Delhi. In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, incidents of harassment, assault and intimidation have come to light against Muslim women campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party. These women were campaigning for the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, campaigning for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Later, they were threatened with death for their political activities. This incident took place in Kareli area of Prayagraj, where dozens of burqa-clad women from the Muslim community have been actively associated with the BJP for some time.
These women have been continuously campaigning for BJP candidate Neeraj Tripathi from Allahabad seat. As a result, they received threats and were warned that they would have to face serious consequences if they continued their election campaign for the BJP. One such case is related to Sana Khan, a woman from the area. It is alleged that some neighbors forcibly entered her house and beat her and her daughter and threatened to kill them if they continued campaigning for the BJP. The women have reported the incident to the police, and it is currently being investigated by the Prayagraj police.
These Muslim BJP workers had recently used mehndi to write slogans like “Abki baar 400 paar” (This time, more than 400 seats) on their hands, which reportedly angered some of their neighbours. After the incident, BJP worker Sana Khan has demanded strict action against those who threatened.
