According to Pakistani journalist Kamran Yusuf, after registering a case against Imran Khan, he will be arrested and this time this news will be completely banned in the media. The army hopes that by blacking out Imran Khan in the media, it will be easier to control the public. The army and the Shahbaz government will hold elections only while Imran Khan is in jail. Imran Khan will not be able to contest in this election and his political career will end for the time being.
Imran Khan was expecting rebellion in the army
In fact, during the violence of PTI supporters, a group in the party was hoping that a rebellion would start in the army in support of Imran. Eventually, General Asim Munir will have to step down. According to the report of The Friday Times, Imran was also expecting this result but it did not happen. Now General Munir has started settling scores with them. PTI chief Imran Khan is facing the toughest battle of his life.
Imran Khan is struggling to deal with a severe political isolation after his close aides announced they were leaving the party in the wake of the May 9 violence following his arrest in Islamabad. The list of leaders who have announced their departure from PTI also includes former Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. Khattak, former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as party president in the province, said, “Nothing good happened on May 9, I have condemned this incident before, may Allah prevent such incident from happening again.” The political environment of the country is bad. I have decided to leave the post of the party. I will decide on further course of action after consulting with friends.
More than 100 PTI leaders left the party
More recently, Khattak and Kaiser were named as part of the PTI negotiating team in a proposed meeting to find a solution to the political crisis in the country. Since the May 9 chaos, more than 100 PTI leaders have announced to quit the party. However, the consistency of statements and rationales given by all PTI leaders for their departure has raised many questions on the exact reason for their rift with Khan. From the first person to the 102nd who has announced to quit the party, it seems everyone is reciting the same lines, in the same order and with such expressions. All were forced to leave the party, said Rauf Hasan, information secretary of PTI.
