Bhubaneswar. The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has issued a notice to the Odisha government seeking a report on an accident at the JSW BPSL plant where four contract workers were burnt to death. The ST panel has also sought a comprehensive report from the Chief Secretary and DGP, Odisha on the action taken within 15 days of receiving the notice.
The commission has warned the top officials to issue summons for personal appearance if the reply is not received within the stipulated time.
According to sources, four laborers, Karan Oram, Neelamani Oram, Anjan Oram and Ashok Dhurua, residents of Titimal village of Bhailaida panchayat of Jharsuguda district, had suffered burns in an accident that took place in the panel on March 11.
After first aid at the plant dispensary, two of them were sent to Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela and two others to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, the source said.
