New Delhi. The CBI is conducting raids to trace the network involved in the NEET exam paper scam. To reach the real mastermind, the investigating agency is investigating the events between May 3 and May 5, although the investigating agency considers Sanjeev Mukhiya as the mastermind in this because he has been accused of rigging 3 exams before this. The agency is not focusing on any one side of the investigation in this case and is trying to trace the network spread across many states so that it can be found out where and through whom the paper leak actually started.
According to CBI sources, so far a big lead has been received from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand in the NEET paper scam. With the help of this, the CBI team has interrogated dozens of people related to this scandal, but apart from this, centers of some states including Gujarat and Maharashtra are also on the radar of CBI, from where the network of the main conspirator can be revealed… this can be anywhere in Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Gujarat.
According to sources, till now CBI is collecting data which can be related to dates from 5th May or before that. The investigating agency has prepared a list of those centers which are considered suspicious for the possibility of paper tampering. Its purpose is to find out who was on duty in these exam centers on 5th May i.e. on the day of NEET exam. According to sources, the staff has a big role in leaking the paper, so everyone is on the radar of the agency, which can include the principal of the exam center as well as fourth class employees.
CBI has taken some CCTV footage from Hazaribagh’s SBI bank and understood its timeline. Similarly, CCTV footage and mobile phone roaming numbers are being investigated in the complaints received from different states and registered cases so that it can be ascertained where the beginning was. Whether any security was given to the boxes in which the question papers were kept from the courier company to take them to the center or not, if it was given, then a list is being prepared as to who was responsible for the security and where did they stop on the route to reach the center or did they meet or talk to anyone. All these are now part of the investigation.
Courier companies are given the responsibility of sending boxes of papers. How many courier companies were entrusted with the responsibility of delivering the paper sheets across the country by NTA and where were these papers delivered? Which officers were entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the question papers and sending them to the exam centres? CBI teams are working on which box and which vehicle were the papers kept in from there and under whose security were these boxes delivered to the centres.
The CBI is investigating every angle from which the initial link of NEET paper leak can be found. Like how much time did it take for the paper sheets to reach the exam centers and who were the ones who brought them to the centers. The CBI has also pointed to Latur in Maharashtra because the role of 2 people involved in the rigging was revealed there. Apart from this, the process of recording the statements of the staff posted at the centers in Gujarat where complaints of rigging have been received has also been expedited.
