New Delhi. For the first time after 70 years of independence, the responsibility of minority ministry has been given to a minister married in a very minority family. The name of the minister is Smriti Irani. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday resigned from the post of Minority Affairs Minister after his Rajya Sabha membership ended. After this, PM Narendra Modi gave additional charge of this ministry to Smriti Irani. Let us tell you that the Parsi community is the least number of minorities in the country. Also, till now the head of this ministry has been made only to Muslim. Smriti has not been given this charge for the full time, but this time the old tradition has been broken by PM Modi.
Smriti Irani is of Bengali origin, but she is married to Zubin Irani of Parsi community. Smriti has two children a son and a daughter. TV actress Smriti made a household name with ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. During her studies, she has also worked as a waitress in a restaurant. In the year 2019, Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in the Amethi seat, considered a Congress stronghold. By visiting her parliamentary constituency, she constantly removes the problems of the people there.
If we talk about the Parsi community in India, then these communities are in the least number of all the minorities. Their number is less than 2 percent. The Parsis came to India from there to escape the attacks of Muslim invaders on Persia (now Iran). Basically Parsi families live in and around Mumbai. Ratan Tata is a well-known industrialist from this community. Apart from this, Shapoorji-Pallonji Group is also an industry of the Parsi family.
