The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is rapidly updating its vehicle portfolio. Recently, the company launched its next generation Celerio in the market, and now the WagonR is also getting updated and preparing to launch it in the market. This car has been spotted during testing, according to the report it could be the new updated S-CNG variant of WagonR.
Maruti Suzuki is going to launch updated models from its Baleno to Vitara Brezza, DZire and Swift in the coming time. Presently, the company is trying to strengthen its CNG portfolio, due to the rising price of petrol, customers are increasingly looking for CNG models. In this sequence, this new model of WagonR will make the vehicle lineup even better.

The Maruti WagonR has been performing well in the Indian market for decades and this family car, popularly known as the tall boy, is well-liked by the people. It is believed that this new car will be a 1.2-litre CNG version, which will be more powerful than the current 1.0-litre CNG. This engine generates power of 69 PS in petrol mode and 59 PS in CNG mode. There is also news that the company will use the same engine in its upcoming Swift and Dzire CNG variants as well.
Pipes have been used in the exhaust of the testing model, which is usually seen during the testing of CNG variant cars. Apart from this, recently new i-CNG variants of Tiago and Tigor have been launched by Tata Motors. Which has certainly increased the pressure on Maruti Suzuki to launch the new model. Till now the CNG segment was dominated by only brands like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, but now the competition seems to be increasing.
The current model of Maruti WagonR is based on the company’s famous Heartect platform. This car comes in the market with two petrol engine options, in one version the company has used a 1.2 liter engine, which generates 81bhp power and 113Nm torque. On the other hand, the 1.0 liter (66bhp power and 90Nm torque) engine has been given in the second variant. Both these engines come with 5-speed manual transmission and automatic gearbox.

The company has given a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in it, which can be connected to Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Apart from this, features like Power Windows, Keyless Entry, Steering Mounted Audio Control, Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Rear Parking Sensor have been included as standard. Its price ranges from Rs 4.93 lakh to Rs 6.45 lakh. Its petrol variant gives a mileage of 21 kmpl and CNG variant up to 32 kmpl.
