A new privacy feature has been rolled out for WhatsApp. After the release of this feature, users will be able to unlock WhatsApp by showing their face. This face unlock feature of WhatsApp has been released for Android users. Users were demanding this feature of WhatsApp for a long time. Currently, a PIN or password is required to unlock the app. After the arrival of the new feature, Face Unlock feature will be supported in the app i.e. users will be able to unlock the app by showing their face.
App will remain locked without showing face
According to the report of 9To5Google, this new security feature for WhatsApp has currently come in Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. To use this feature, users will have to first download the latest version of the app on their smartphone. After this this new biometric face unlock feature will have to be turned on. This feature has been released in Pixel 8 series with the latest Android version 2.24.8.85.
After updating the app, users will see a face unlock sheet at the bottom of the phone screen and a ring around the front selfie camera, which will read the user’s face. This clearly means that without your face no one will be able to read your WhatsApp message. However, even after the introduction of this feature, users will be able to set a PIN to lock and unlock the chat. If, for some reason, the face unlock feature won’t work, users will be able to unlock the app by entering a PIN.
Works on machine learning
Google has released face unlock feature not only for WhatsApp but also for many other banking and payment apps. The Google Pixel 8 series has an advanced Google Tensor G3 processor, which works on machine learning algorithms. Along with this chip used in Google Pixel device, Titan M2 security chip is also provided, which authorizes contactless NFC payment through Google Pay. This feature of WhatsApp will also work on the machine learning algorithm present in the smartphone.
