New Delhi. The National Court of Science University (NFSU) organized the world’s first film forensic seminar at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi on 13 April 2025, the Padma Shri Award -awarded Hema Malini was the chief guest of the ceremony. In the seminar, Prasoon Joshi, actor Sharad Kelkar and CID fame Narendra Gupta, Justice K.K. R. Thakar, Chairperson, Gujarat State Human Rights Commission was present. Under the aegis of the National Court of Court of Science, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, from 14 to 15 April 2025, Vigyan Bhawan is organizing the All India Forensic Science Summit (AIFSS) on the ‘effective implementation of new criminal laws and the role of forensic science in dealing with terrorism’.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Government of India, will inaugurate the summit as the chief guest. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Supreme Court Judge R Venkatarman, Attorney General Justice V Ramsubramaniam, Chairman NHRC Manan Kumar Mishra, Chairman Bar Council of India and Govind Mohan, will adorn the inauguration ceremony of the Union Home Secretary Summit.
During the “Film Forensic Seminar”, out of 40 entries in the short film category, Best Six (06) was elected and displayed in the event by the jury of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Prizes were also given in various categories in the program. NFSU also organized a “forensic hackathon” at Vigyan Bhawan. The program advocated promoting and developing indigenous technology to deal with crime and exhibited magnificent ideas and technical ideals. Delhi High Court Judge Justice Tejas Kariya inaugurated the forensic exhibition during the program.
Hema Malini, who was awarded the chief guest of the ceremony “Padma Shri”, said that- films can bridge the gap between science and common man, raising awareness about crime-composition through attractive stories. I congratulate NFSU for this bold step. As a leading institute in forensic education and research, your role in educating society is invaluable.
Such events help in creating cooperation between creative minds and scientific communities, which require time. I would like to welcome institutions like NFSU with my colleagues of the film industry. Now we can consult experts, understand science and create stories that do justice for both the victim and investigation.
Padma Shri Award winner NFSU Vice Chancellor Dr. J.M. Vyas said that- forensic science scientific enriches cinema by combining accuracy with a story storytelling, by making authentic and attractive illustrations of investigation. He said that this seminar discussed how forensic science deepens our understanding of truth, justice and human experience. The program included entertainment industry, education world, law enforcement agencies and well-known personalities associated with private industry. – Special Network
