At least 110 people have been killed in an explosion at a refinery in Nigeria’s southeast. Efforts are on to nab the two people, who are believed to be suspects of the blast, along with searching the bodies at the spot.
State officials told the Associated Press that Friday night’s explosion in the Ohaji-Igbema local government area of Imo state also engulfed two fuel storage areas where more than 100 people were working.

Dozens of workers were engulfed in the fire, while many tried to escape by running into the forest area, officials said. Imo’s Petroleum Resources Commissioner Goodluck Opiah said the death toll in the disaster could be more than 100. He told that many people after getting burnt ran into the bushes and died.
2 guilty in the case are absconding
Imo’s state information commissioner, Declan Imelumba, said no arrests had been made in the case so far, but two convicts were on the run. Police is searching for them. However, he did not reveal the identity of the suspects. He said mass burials were being planned for those killed in the blast and many of them could not be identified.
