New Delhi. There is no change in the Agniveer recruitment process under the Agnipath scheme for the army. The central government has termed the news circulating on social media in this regard as a rumour. PIB has said that the Agniveer scheme will continue as it was.
For the last few days, there was a flood of posts on social media that the Modi government is going to make a big change in the Agniveer scheme. In these posts, it was being claimed that on June 23, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will announce changes in the Agniveer scheme. It was being claimed in the social media posts that now 60 percent of Agniveers will be made permanent instead of 25 percent. Along with this, claims of 7 years of service instead of 4, more money on death and other facilities were also being made on social media. Now the central government has clarified that this is just a rumor and the Agniveer scheme will continue as it is running.
PIB Fact Check has reported that a fake WhatsApp message claims that after review, the Agneepath scheme has been relaunched as Sainik Samman Yojana with changes. It talks about increasing the service period to 7 years, 60 percent permanent jobs and increased salary. PIB has reported that the central government has not taken any such decision. The Modi government had started the scheme of recruiting Agniveers in the three armies under the Agneepath scheme in its second term. The opposition has already been against the Agniveer scheme and this time it also made it an issue in the Lok Sabha elections. Under the Agniveer scheme, a job of 4 years is given. It has a training of 6 months. After 4 years of service, there is a provision to take 25 percent Agniveers in permanent service. No pension is given in the Agniveer scheme. 50 percent of the places have been reserved for giving jobs in the central forces after 4 years.
