South Korea alleges that North Korea is conducting such missile tests to provoke North Korea, saying such tests are a serious threat to the peace of the Korean Peninsula.

Following a reportedly successful test of a hypersonic missile, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced that his country has achieved the capability to build a solid-fuel, nuclear-capable system for an all-range missile.

Kim is trying to create weapons that can intimidate America and its rivals in Asia. North Korean state media said Kim supervised the test and described the Hwasong-16B missile as a key part of his nuclear war deterrent. He pledged to develop more such weapons to counter his “enemies”, referring to the US, South Korea and Japan.
