Japan’s automaker Nissan has strengthened its hold in the country’s mid-size SUV segment with the Magnite, while the Renault Kiger is also a popular SUV in the segment. For the time being, the reason for telling about these vehicles is their safety. In fact, both the cars have been awarded 4-star ratings in the new crash tests conducted by Global NCAP. At the same time, this crash test becomes more special because with the new crash test results, Global NCAP has achieved the milestone of crash testing 50 models for the Indian market.
Apart from Magnite and Keegar, the other two cars included in the NCAP crash test by the agency are the Honda Jazz and the fourth generation Honda City. Speaking on the subject, Alejandro Fures, Secretary General, Global NCAP, said, “This is an important milestone for our crash testing in India, which has tested fifty models so far.” He said that the vehicles made for India have seen a significant growth since the start of crash testing in 2014. However, there is still room for improvement.”
Nissan Magnite achieved 4-Star
The Magnite sub-compact SUV bagged four stars for adult occupant protection and two stars for child occupant protection. Let us tell you, this car was tested with its most basic safety features fitted with two front airbags and ABS.
Surprisingly, the Magnite is still being sold with a lap-belt in the rear seat instead of a three point belt, and comes without ISOFIX anchorages for the Child Restraint System (CRS), the crash test report said. This model is also required to provide Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and side head impact protection.
