The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) expert panel on Thursday recommended emergency use of Corbevax vaccine for children aged 5 to 12 years amid rising cases of coronavirus. After which now the vaccine is awaiting the permission of DCGI before the final approval of the Union Health Ministry. At present, this vaccine is being administered to children in the age group of 12-14 years.
India Today quoted PTI sources as saying that the COVID-19 subject expert committee of CDSCO has deliberated on the application for emergency use of biologics to approve Corbevax for children aged five to 11 years. is recommended. Developed by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E, Corbevax is India’s first indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against COVID-19.
Corbevax is being given to children aged 12 to 14 from March 16 this year. At present, the corona vaccine is being administered to children above 12 years of age in the country. In view of the increasing cases of corona virus, the government is trying to speed up the vaccination campaign.
On Thursday, 2,380 new cases of corona virus were reported in the country. With this, the number of people who have been infected with the corona virus in the country so far increased to 4,30,49,974. At the same time, the number of active patients also increased to 13,433.
According to the information received by the government on Thursday morning, an increase of 1,093 patients has been registered in the last 24 hours. At the same time, the national rate of recovery of patients is 98.76 percent.
