The new chief of the Indian Army, General Manoj Pandey, had recently given a clear message to China regarding the Line of Actual Control that wrongdoing will not be tolerated. In this episode, the Indian Army has transferred six division soldiers of the army from the Ladakh sector near the Line of Actual Control. However, the process of transferring soldiers has been going on for more than two years. ANI told in one of its reports that so far 35 thousand soldiers have been shifted on the China border.
In fact, ANI has quoted senior government sources in its report that in the last two years, about 35 thousand soldiers have been deployed on the China border. Some of these soldiers were active in counter-terrorism roles. A division from the Rashtriya Rifles was also moved out of Jammu and Kashmir from counter-insurgency roles and is now deployed in the Eastern Ladakh sector. Similarly, an Assam-based division under the Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps has been removed from its anti-insurgency role and is now tasked with looking after China’s border in the northeast.
All this comes as China in recent days attempted to unilaterally change the status quo by moving a large number of troops against Indian posts. However, even after the deployment of troops, the Indian Army is rebalancing and restructuring its forces. Experts believe that more than the Pakistan border, there is now a challenge on the China border and due to this situation it has been done.
There is also a fact that soldiers posted in the Eastern Ladakh sector are given extra preparedness due to extreme cold weather. These soldiers have already been posted once or twice in such weather in Siachen, Eastern Ladakh or North-East and they are mentally prepared for long term deployment. The situation between the Indian and Chinese soldiers on the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh has been tense for a long time. Thousands of soldiers have been deployed there against each other from both the sides.
For the time being, recently, the new Chief of the Indian Army, General Manoj Pandey had said that wrong actions on the LAC will not be tolerated. As soon as he took office, the army chief had bluntly told China. Although he did say that we are confident that as we continue to talk to the other side, we will find a solution to the ongoing issues. But at the same time he also said that wrong actions on LAC will not be tolerated. He said that in the last two years, we have greatly strengthened our deployment on the border with China.
