United Nations: The world is facing the crisis of war. While on one side the war is going on between Russia and Ukraine, on the other side Israel is continuously targeting Hamas. Tension has also increased between Iran and Israel. Now, while all the countries are worried about these wars, another big crisis has arisen in front of the world. This issue is also not a small issue… This issue is related to the deployment of nuclear weapons in space.
Russia vetoed
At present, Russia has on Wednesday vetoed a resolution of the United Nations and Japan to ban all countries from racing to deploy dangerous nuclear weapons in space. In the fifteen-member UN Security Council, 13 countries voted in favor of the resolution while Russia opposed it. China remained absent on this matter. Russia rejected the proposal, calling it politically motivated and saying that the proposal was not capable of banning all types of weapons in space. The resolution calls on all countries not to deploy nuclear weapons in space or any other weapon that could cause massive devastation.
‘Question arises’
US Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield said after the vote that Russian President Vladimir Putin says that Moscow has no intention of deploying nuclear weapons in space, but Russia’s veto raises questions about whether the government will. She is hiding something. The deployment of weapons in space is prohibited under a 1967 international treaty.
