New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) | Google-owned YouTube has announced that it will pay creators up to $10,000 per month to create popular videos on its TikTok competitor, the Shorts app. The company has launched the YouTube Shorts Fund, a $100 million fund distributed in 2021-2022.
Every month, we will reach out to thousands of eligible creators to claim payment from the fund, YouTube said in a statement late Tuesday. Producers can earn anywhere from $100 to $10,000 on their shorts, depending on the audience and engagement.
The $100 million fund will help build a monetization model for shorts on YouTube and is not limited to creators in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). Any manufacturer who works with its eligibility criteria can also avail it. With the launch of the Shorts Fund, creators and artists now have 10 ways to make money and build a business on YouTube.
Robert Kinkle, Chief Business Officer, said YouTube ads have been at the core of creators’ revenue streams, and are the main way creators can make money on YouTube. Creators get most of the revenue generated from ads on YouTube. YouTube Premium is a paid subscription option that allows members to enjoy ad-free content, background playback, downloads and premium access to the YouTube Music app. The majority of subscription revenue goes to YouTube partners, the company said.
