Apart from skipper Rohit Sharma, the series was also a test for coach Rahul Dravid, who was not happy that the team managed to win. Meanwhile, Dravid was taken aback by a question posed by his former India teammate Murali Karthik. The former India spinner, who is part of the broadcast panel, wanted to know Dravid’s mindset behind planning ahead.
India won the fourth consecutive series from Australia, also reached the WTC final
He asked – Rahul, there is ODI series against Australia and then T20 (referring to IPL) and then WTC final. How do you plan to prepare for it? To this Dravid replied in such a way that he laughed. He said- Karthik, we qualified for the WTC final at lunch today itself. I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch. We will think about it, we will plan for it. We will celebrate it first. We deserve to celebrate it, because it’s been a tough month and a half.
However, he accepted the challenge saying – there is only a week gap between the IPL final and the WTC final. So it will not be an easy challenge for us, but hopefully we will be ready. We will sit and discuss with the coach and support staff.
