Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik arrived in Bhubaneswar to review the country’s first indoor athletic stadium project. It is being constructed in Kalinga Stadium Complex. During this, CM Patnaik reviewed the progress of the project and also inspected the work site. Along with this, met the players of Indian women’s and men’s hockey team and also wished them all the best for the Hockey Pro League tournament.
120 crores is being spent to build this indoor athletic stadium. The stadium is expected to be ready by the end of 2022. This will be India’s first indoor athletic stadium. This will help the players to prepare for the whole year without any problem.
During this, CM Patnaik said that this stadium will contribute significantly to the development of athletics in India. CM said- In the coming years this indoor stadium will become a center for making champions. This stadium will also be able to host national and international games. It will also have accommodation facilities for more than 100 athletes who come for coaching. Apart from this, the CM also inspected the Tennis Center project. The center court of the Tennis Center is being built to host tournaments of national and international level. In this, matches of big tournaments like ITF tournaments and Davis Cup can also be played.

CM Patnaik also watched the ongoing Odisha Women’s Football League match at the football ground of Kalinga Stadium. He interacted with the women footballers and assured them of all possible help. After this, the Chief Minister met the Indian hockey teams (men and women) at the hockey stadium and inquired about their stay and facilities related to practice. The players also expressed their gratitude for the cooperation given by the Chief Minister for the development of hockey.
CM Patnaik also wished the hockey players all the best for the upcoming Pro League matches. The CM has expressed hope that the players of the Indian hockey team will definitely win medals for the country in the Asian and Commonwealth Games this year.
