Jaipur . Additional Chief Secretary, Water Supply Department, Dr. Subodh Agrawal has said that a team of senior officers of Rajasthan will be sent to other states to study the best practices of urban and rural drinking water network of other states. He said that supply of clean drinking water in proper quantity to the people of the state is our first priority, to make it better, the experience of other states will be taken advantage of.
Dr. Agrawal said that in view of the heterogeneous geographical conditions in Rajasthan as well as the scarcity of surface drinking water sources and groundwater, we have to make such a strategy, so that the drinking water requirement of the people of the state can be met. For this, efforts will have to be made to expedite the implementation of departmental plans and get them completed on time.
Dr. Agrawal was discussing in detail various projects including Jal Jeevan Mission with senior officials of the Department of Water Resources at the Secretariat on Wednesday. He said that in the circumstances arising out of COVID and Russia-Ukraine war, it is now necessary to work in a planned manner to cover the delay in implementation of various projects run by the department. He said that all possible options are being considered at a high level to overcome the hurdles in cost escalation of projects due to the circumstances arising out of the COVID and Russia-Ukraine war.
ACS Dr. Agrawal instructed the officers posted in the field of the department to work in a ‘pro-active’ manner for the smooth operation of drinking water distribution system in summer. In the meeting, he took information from the officials about the pending issues at the level of Government of India, Department and other departments and gave necessary instructions in this regard. Joint Secretary Water Supply and Mission Director JJM Pratap Singh, while giving detailed information about the projects, apprised about the progress.
Chief engineers in the meeting include Urban CM Chouhan, Rural RK Meena, Special Project Dalip Kumar Gaur, Jal Jeevan Mission Dinesh Goyal, Additional Chief Engineer Rural Devraj Solanki, Director WSSO Hukum Chand Verma, Financial Advisors KC Kumawat and Devaram Shivran, Chief Chemist Rakesh Mathur. and other senior officers were present.
Representatives of agencies related to the implementation of drinking water projects met Dr. Agrawal on Wednesday itself. Dr. Agrawal urged the delegates to ensure quality and timely implementation of projects so that the target persons could be benefitted. He also discussed with the delegates the delays in implementation of the projects, other problems and possible solutions.
