Dilpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh and Hardik Singh scored goals, will compete with world champion Belgium
Tokyo, Aug 1 (IANS) | The Indian men’s hockey team advanced to the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics after beating Britain 3-1 in the opening match of the day played at the Oi Hockey Stadium on Sunday. Dilpreet Singh scored for India in the seventh minute, Gurjant Singh in the 16th and Hardik Singh in the 57th minute. Samuel Ward scored the only goal for Britain in the 45th minute.
In the semi-finals, India will face world champions Belgium, who beat Spain 3-1 in the third quarter-final match. Australia and Germany will meet in the second semi-final. While Germany beat Olympic champions Argentina 3-1 in the opening match of the day, Australia beat the Netherlands 3-0 after a penalty shootout.
