Ahmedabad. The SIT has submitted its report to the Gujarat government on Friday in the Rajkot gaming zone accident. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Gujarat government to investigate the fire incident in the Rajkot gaming zone on May 25 submitted its report to Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi in Gandhinagar on Friday. The investigating agency said in its report that the ‘shop of death’ was opened in defiance of the law with the support of municipal corporation officials. It is known that 27 people lost their lives in this accident.
If sources are to be believed, the investigating agency has pointed out many flaws in the preliminary report. Negligence of the Municipal Corporation officials has been mentioned. Negligence of the Public Works Department as well as the Fire Safety Department has been mentioned in it. The operators of the gaming zone were running the gaming zone by flouting the law. The role of high-ranking officials has also been described as suspicious.
The SIT report has talked about finding out the role of those officers whose pictures were revealed at the time of inauguration of the gaming zone. The story of the looting of the municipal corporation officers has also been told and how the officers kept earning black money while being in the corporation. Apart from this, some suggestions have also been given.
In its 100-page interim report, the SIT, headed by senior IPS officer Subhash Trivedi, has suggested some changes in Section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act (GP Act), which gives the local police the power to licence such sports areas.
