New Delhi. In the current scorching heat, even coolers are failing. Only AC is giving relief. Generally, one AC cools the entire room. But have you ever wondered how many ACs are installed in a heavy train carrying 1000 to 1200 people. Where are these ACs installed and what is their temperature. Let’s find out.
Apart from the existing premium trains, the total number of coaches in mail, express and passenger trains is 68534. These include 44946 non-AC sleeper and general coaches, while the number of AC coaches is 23588. These include AC coaches in other trains apart from premium trains. About five lakh passengers travel by these coaches daily.
When there was no AC, how did kings and emperors travel, how did they cool the train coaches?
Indian Railways Director Information and Publicity Shivaji Maruti Sutar says that the number of ACs in each coach is fixed. Their capacity is divided differently. Two ACs are installed in one coach. These are installed at both ends. ACs with a capacity of seven tons are installed in one coach. In some trains, these are divided into 3.5-3.5 tons or in some trains, they are divided into 4 and 3 tons. In this way, a seven-ton AC is capable of keeping the entire coach cool. To distribute coolness equally in the entire coach, ducts are made above each compartment, through which the coolness of the AC is available to the passengers sitting on all seats.
After buying a train ticket, a mistake costed the passengers heavily, they had to pay a fine of 81 thousand rupees, avoid this
Apart from this, their temperature is kept between 22 degrees and 24 degrees. If there are third AC coaches, the number of passengers in them is more, so it is kept at 22 degrees and in second and first AC it is kept at 24 degrees. However, sometimes it is increased or decreased as per the convenience of the passengers.
