Bratislava. Slovakia President Peter Palegini on Friday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Name of a tree mother’ initiative. He called it a ‘gamechanger’ and indicated to start a similar program in his country. The President of Slovakia praised the initiative when he planted a national tree ‘Linden’ tree at City Park in Sihot in Nitra city on Thursday. During this, President Draupadi Murmu was also accompanied by Nitra Mayor Marek Hattas.
During the ceremony, Palegini was greatly impressed to know about the purpose and mission of PM Modi’s ‘one tree mother’s name’ initiative.
President Murmu told his Slovakian counterpart about the importance and significance of the ‘one tree mother’s name’ program, which means planting a tree in his mother’s name.
According to the report, the President of Slovakia was so impressed by the initiative that he spoke on the possibility of starting a similar campaign in his country.
Last year, on World Environment Day, Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Ek tree mother’s name’ campaign. He urged the countrymen to join it and strengthen it by becoming a part of it.
Since its inauguration, ‘A tree mother’s name’ has not only attracted global attention to itself but has also received praise from various areas.
President Murmu left for New Delhi on Friday afternoon after completing the successful visit to the country.
This is an Indian President’s first visit to Slovakia in about three decades.
President Murmu’s two -day visit to Slovakia indicates how much India gives importance to its bilateral relations with the Republic of Slovak. This is expected to start intensive cooperation and new initiatives in various fields including defense, science, technology, education.
