Opinion- Modi government is going to give the gift of nine expressways, transportation will become easier


New Delhi. The Modi government is increasing the network of expressways in the country. This is the reason why people prefer to travel by road instead of trains except for long distances. This is making transportation easier. Also, both time and fuel are being saved. People’s lives are becoming easier due to this effort of the government.

Modi government is going to gift nine expressways to the people of the country. These include Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Amritsar, Kanpur-Lucknow. The government has fixed the date of their completion. People have been waiting for these expressways for a long time. Now the wait is about to end.

At present, a total of 21 greenfield expressways are being constructed across the country by the Ministry of Road Transport. Their total length is 8288 km. All these expressways have started being built in 2022. Out of these, nine expressways will be ready by March next year. Their length is 2777 km. The Ministry of Road Transport has revised the deadline for all the expressways under construction.

These expressways will be ready soon

Ahmedabad-Dholera, Bengaluru-Chennai, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra, Kanpur-Lucknow, Ambala Kotputli (ready), Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, UR Second, Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun and Nagpur-Vijayawada, Kota-Ujjain-Indore will be ready by March 2024.

These are 21 expressways

Delhi-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Dholera, Bengaluru-Chennai, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra, Kanpur-Lucknow, Ambala Kotputli, Amritsar-Jamnagar, Raipur-Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, UR Second, Chittor Thatchur, Bengaluru Ring Road, Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun, Durg Raipur-Arang, Surat-Nashik-Ahmedabad Solapur, Solapur-Kurnool-Chennai, Indore-Hyderabad, Kota-Indore, Bengaluru-Vijayawada, Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata and Nagpur-Vijayawada expressways are under construction.

Vehicles will start running on all expressways by 2026

According to the Road Transport Ministry, Bengaluru-Vijayawada and Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata expressways will be ready by 2026-27. The remaining expressways will be ready by 2025-26.

reason for delay

The construction of some of these expressways is getting delayed. According to the Road Transport Ministry, delays in land acquisition, approval from the Environment and Forest Department, revenue related issues to the contractor or other unforeseen events cause delays in construction. All these nine expressways will be completed on time.
