Health officials said that 438 new cases of infection have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. Along with this, 7,788 such cases have also been reported in which there are no symptoms of infection. Both cases are slightly higher than yesterday. At the same time, a total of 4,455 new cases of corona virus were reported in the north eastern province of Jilin on Sunday, which is more than the cases reported on Saturday. This number is lower than in many countries, but the daily cases are the highest in China after the cases found in Wuhan in late 2019.
A population of 26 million in Shanghai is facing a two-phase lockdown. The situation here has become so bad that the Chinese administration has had to send the army here. According to the report, the PLA has deployed a total of 2,000 medical personnel in Shanghai. Thousands of health workers have also been deployed in different areas. These people are doing door-to-door corona testing. Along with this, people are also being instructed to stay at home.
Millions of people imprisoned in Pudong
Residents of the eastern Pudong region were to be allowed to leave their homes on Friday, while those in the western Pudong region were under a four-day lockdown from Friday. Despite assurances, millions of people in Pudong continue to be imprisoned. Residents have been asked to get tested for COVID-19 daily, take precautionary measures including wearing masks at home and avoid close proximity to family members. A 76-day lockdown was imposed in Wuhan, but people there did not have much complaints about it. Many people in Shanghai are complaining about this. They are sharing their problems on social media.
So far 4,638 people have died of COVID in China
State news agency Xinhua reported that Sun Chunlan, a member of the ruling Communist Party’s Politburo, has urged that Shanghai take swift steps to control the cases of COVID as soon as possible. Despite the increase in the number of cases of COVID in China, no patient has died due to infection after March 20. So far 4,638 people have died of COVID in the country.
