“Not only the violence of May 9 and 10, but I have always condemned all forms of violence, especially violence against government establishments and symbols like the General Headquarters, the Supreme Court and Parliament,” he said. He then announced his retirement from active politics, leaving Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. He said that the arrest had an adverse effect on his health and that of his family. blow for imran
Mazari’s decision to part ways with Khan is being seen as a major political loss for the party. Many experts are terming Majri’s decision to leave the party as a big blow for Imran and his party. Michael Kugelman, director of the South Asia Institute at the Wilson Center, says Mazari’s resignation from PTI is a big blow to the party. Other party leaders have resigned under pressure in recent times, but none more senior and visible than Majri. If Kugalman is to be believed, the party is being clamped down on at every level from power to the army.
Qureshi said will be with the party
On the other hand, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who was the Finance Minister in Imran’s government, has put an end to the speculations of leaving the party. Qureshi, who is the deputy chairman of PTI, has been re-arrested outside Adiala Jail soon after his release. Before being arrested, he said, ‘I am with the party and will always be with the party.’ The PTI, on the other hand, claims that its leader Musarrat Cheema was arrested again within hours of his release. The party has termed it as an example of ‘fascism’ of the government. The party says that this practice should be stopped immediately and the decisions of the court should be respected.
