New Delhi. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted people on ‘National Panchayati Raj Day’. Prime Minister Modi said that Panchayats are the cornerstone of Indian democracy. In a tweet, Naidu said, “On Panchayati Raj Day, I would like to commend all the members of Panchayats across the country for their continuous efforts to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level by implementing the schemes and programs of the Centre.”
“Panchayats should play a bigger role in integrated rural development by working towards achieving poverty free, clean, socially secure and well-governed villages,” Naidu said.

On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, Prime Minister Modi is visiting Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the celebrations and address all the Gram Sabhas across the country. Prime Minister Modi will visit the Palli Panchayat in Samba district of Jammu.
