New Delhi. A shocking incident has come to light from Rajauli in Bihar’s Nawada district, where a team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials from Delhi, who were investigating the UGC-NET paper leak case, were attacked. The incident took place yesterday, but the details have come to light today. The CBI team had traced the mobile location in Nawada and had reached Rajauli to further their investigation in the UGC-NET paper leak case.
However, the situation worsened when residents of Kasiyadih village started attacking the CBI officials mistaking them to be traitors. The villagers also vandalised the vehicles used by the CBI team. The CBI team, led by an Inspector rank officer, comprised four officials and a woman constable from the Town Police Station of Nawada district. In response to the attack on the CBI team, the officials took prompt action and arrested four persons involved in the incident. An FIR has been registered against 200 unidentified persons in the case of assault and vandalism.
The UGC NET exam held in 2024 was cancelled due to reports of paper leak. The Union Education Ministry took the decision after receiving information from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), which highlighted possible irregularities in the examination process. The ministry has announced a CBI inquiry to probe the matter in depth. The incident has triggered political reactions, with Congress leaders criticising the government for failing to maintain the dignity of such important examinations. They have accused the government of corruption and negligence.
