Ranked 3rd with a score of 216.8
Tokyo, Aug 31 (IANS) | India’s Sinhraj clinched a bronze medal by finishing third in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH One final here. With this, India got its eighth medal in this Paralympics. Singhraj performed brilliantly to earn the third position with a score of 216.8. The gold medal in this event was won by China’s Chao Yang with a score of 237.9. Another Chinese, Jing Huang, won the silver medal with a score of 237.5.
Another Indian shooter, Manish Narwal, finished seventh with a score of 135.8. Manish was expected to bring a medal but his performance was disappointing. The 39-year-old Sinhraj from Faridabad had qualified for the final in sixth place but moved up to the second spot with a stellar score of 99.6 in the first 10 shots.
Sinharaj scored a score of 10.0 in the next round and survived the exit, scoring only 9.4 and 9.7 to come fourth. He had to face China’s Lu Xiaolong for the third place for the bronze medal. Singhraj shot 9.4 and 9.7 in his 13th and 14th shots, overtaking Lu in third place. But the Chinese shooters could not hold the position for long and scored 9.6 and 9.7 in their 17th and 18th turns.
After another low round of 9.1 and 9.6 on his 19th and 20th turns, it looked like Sinharaj might miss out on a medal, but the Chinese shooter shot 8.6 in his 20th shot and so did Sinharaj’s 196.8. reached 196.5. In the next round, 39-year-old Sinharaj from Faridabad scored two 10.0 points and had to be content with the bronze medal. China’s Yang Chao, who shot 100.3 in the first series itself, shot 8.7, 8.2 and 8.2 to claim the gold medal with a total of 237.9. His compatriot Huang Jing scored 237.5 and grabbed the silver. India has so far won a total of eight at the Tokyo Paralympics with two gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
