The reason behind the horrific road accident in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand has been revealed. This happened due to the driver dozing off. Most of the passengers were also asleep at the time of the accident. Probably due to this the driver also dozed off and the vehicle met with an accident. A tempo traveler fell into the Alaknanda river near Rauteli on the Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway at 11:30 am on Saturday. There were a total of 26 passengers in this traveler and most of them were asleep. 14 people have died in this accident. Other passengers are injured and the death toll is expected to increase.
The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached AIIMS Rishikesh to meet the injured. Here CM Dhami inquired about the condition of the people injured in the accident. CM Dhami said that the injured are being treated. Their families are being informed. The hospital has arranged for good treatment.
The traveler was going to Chopta-Tungnath
The victims of the accident had left for Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila trekking from Gurugram. It is being told that the vehicle was not for Chardham Yatra, so it did not have a trip card and registration of passengers. This is mandatory only for vehicles and passengers of Chardham Yatra. The vehicle was stopped for registration check in Brahmapuri, where the driver said that he was going on Chopta-Tungnath trip. After this, the vehicle was released from the check post.
Uttarakhand government gave compensation
The Uttarakhand government has announced financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the people who are injured normally. Rs 40,000 will be given to the seriously injured people. Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. PM Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have also expressed grief over the incident and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
