Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Group’s Ayurvedic medicine company Divya Pharmacy has decided to stop promoting certain heart and liver claims. According to the company, this decision has been taken due to complaints of violation of drug laws.
Earlier this year, an ophthalmologist from Kerala wrote a letter to the Union Ministry of AYUSH regarding the promotion being done by the company, in which he had said that an advertisement was being run by Divya Pharmacy in Dehradun. Is. It has been claimed that after taking its medicine Lipidom, cholesterol comes under control within a week and it protects people from heart problems and high blood pressure.
Babu further wrote that this advertisement of the company is in violation of the Drug and Magic Remedies Act, which clearly states that no company can run advertisements related to the treatment of health problems, including heart disease and high blood pressure.
On receiving a complaint against the advertisement of Divya Pharmacy, the Union Ministry of AYUSH directed the Uttarakhand administration to take appropriate action. Based on Babu’s complaint, the Uttarakhand government has sent a notice to the company.
According to the information received under the Right to Information Act, Babu said that the company responded to the notice received from the Uttarakhand Ayurvedic and Unani Department that it is stopping its advertisement with immediate effect. At the same time, Babu said, “People may buy some products after seeing misleading advertisements and they may not even know that the advertisement was misleading.”
The Ministry of AYUSH told Parliament earlier this year that 1,416 cases of misleading AYUSH products and services were registered between April 2014 and July 2021 on a portal created by the Union Department of Consumer Affairs to register complaints against misleading advertisements. went.
