Deloitte is providing a playbook to help Omicron tackle the growing number of cases in India. The protocols in this playbook can enable governments to quickly scale up health care support and resources needed to address the rise in COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) cases. Deloitte said on Thursday that it is providing this playbook to district administrations across the country to help them deal with the growing threat of the Omron version of the coronavirus.
This playbook recommends home care for the infected patient, which communities can easily adopt to help those who are able to recover at home. The playbook draws on lessons from NITI Aayog, “Sanjeevani Project”, a virtual home care initiative launched in Karnal, Haryana, India in May 2021, as well as Deloitte’s experiences in South Africa to combat the pandemic. based on.
Currently at the peak of the second wave, and initiatives by the Haryana government and Deloitte have helped the people of Karnal quickly access healthcare at home. Due to which the death rate was reduced by 50 percent. Along with this, more than 90 percent of the patients were treated at home or at the isolation center. Following its success in India, this “Sanjeevani Project” initiative was also adopted in South Africa and South East Asia.
Punit Renzen, global CEO of Deloitte, said: “The Deloitte Playbook helps bring essential healthcare to people at home, thereby ‘expanding the medical ward.’ It brings much needed medical care and resources to reach rural, disadvantaged communities when fully implemented.” He further said that I am confident that widespread adoption of the model will address long-term health challenges at a lower cost and this is absolutely true for India and the world.
