Mumbai After Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, now his wife Varsha is also seen in trouble. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has called Varsha for questioning today. This case is related to Patra Chawl scam. The ED alleges that Sanjay and Varsha got a lot of money through this scam and bought properties from him. ED has already arrested Sanjay Raut. If Varsha could not answer the ED’s questions, then action is likely to be taken against her too. According to sources, ED officers will interrogate Sanjay Raut and Varsha face-to-face today. They will see how much Varsha’s answer matches with what Sanjay Raut has given. Also, does Varsha give any other such information, which can be used as strong evidence against the accused in this investigation.
Let us tell you that there was financial irregularity in the development of Patra Chawl located in Goregaon area of Mumbai. Sanjay Raut has been accused of money laundering in this case and he has been sent to ED custody till August 8. ED can now interrogate other accused besides Varsha by making them sit in front of Sanjay Raut. Earlier, Varsha was questioned several times by the ED. In this case, the name of Varsha Raut has come up because of the fact that many properties were bought in her name. 10 plots were bought in Alibaug in the name of Varsha and Swapna Patkar. The ED has told the court that Sanjay Raut and his family got more than 1 crore from the Patra Chawl scam.
In April this year, the ED had arrested Praveen Raut, a close aide of Sanjay Raut, and attached his assets worth Rs 9 crore. Then Varsha’s property worth Rs 2 crore was also confiscated. ED came to know at that time that Praveen Raut has 8 plots in Alibaug and a flat in the name of Varsha. However, Sanjay Raut has repeatedly said that the ED’s action against him and Varsha is wrong and they are being framed because of politics.
