Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that former UAE batsman Usman Khan is in contention for selection for the upcoming T20 home series against New Zealand despite serving a five-year ban. Geo News quoted Mohsin Naqvi as saying that Usman Khan is the right player for Pakistan and he will play for the national team.
Took part in fitness camp
Usman Khan was among the players who participated in the fitness camp with the Pakistani Army. Last week, 28-year-old Usman Khan was banned for five years by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) after being found guilty of breaching his obligations. The Pakistani team for the five-match series against New Zealand will be announced on April 9. The series will start from 18th April.
Strong performance in Pakistan Super League
Usman Khan had performed amazingly in Pakistan Super League 2024. He had scored 430 runs in 7 matches. He was second in terms of scoring the most runs in this season. Usman Khan is the only player to score two centuries in the same season of Pakistan Super League. He also made Multan Sultans team win many matches on his own. Seeing his recent performance, there has been a demand to include him in the Pakistani team.
