Jagdalpur. People living in illegally building huts in the railway colony have started leaving one by one after getting the notice to vacate the possession from the railways. Those who have any other place of residence in the city or rural area, four such people have left in the last 15 days after vacating the railway colony. There are also two families who are missing after locking the hut for three or four months.
41 illegal huts have been built by occupying the land in Railway Residential Colony. Some of them are said to be 10 to 20 years old. All these occupants were given 15 days’ time to remove the huts after conducting a survey by the team formed by the Waltair Railway Divisional Administration to survey the illegal occupants. The deadline given in the notice issued on November 2 has also been completed on February 18. After the completion of the deadline, on Friday, a joint team of Assistant Divisional Engineer Jagdalpur Rail Section (AEN), Senior Section Engineer (Works), Railway Protection Force surveyed the colony.
In a phone conversation with Senior Section Engineer Manoj Kumar Tiwari, he told that the families living there had already vacated two illegally built huts in the colony area. After getting the notice, three or four families have also vacated their possession in the last fortnight. Detailed information is being collected in this regard. Tiwari said that after the completion of the deadline given in the notice, once again the encroachers are being requested to vacate the possession.
Here, according to the information received from the Waltair Railway Divisional Administration, the Divisional Railway Administration is in touch with the Bastar district administration to remove the illegal encroachment on railway land. It is to be known that notices have been issued to 501 people who encroach on railway land in Jagdalpur. On discussing with some of the families of the colony, he said that he belonged to a poor family and did not have a place to cover his head. If the administration makes early arrangements for housing, then those people will leave the occupation and go away. According to administrative sources, about half of the 41 families are such that they do not have any other place to live.
Show cause notice to officers regarding encroachment
Regarding the encroachment in the Railway Colony, the Divisional Divisional Administration has issued a show cause notice to the Senior Section Engineer (Works) and Jagdalpur Railway Section In-charge Manoj Kumar Tiwari and NV Mohan, responsible for the safety and security of railway property (civil related). Through notices from both the officers, information has been sought about the action taken in the last four to five years regarding encroachment on railway land in railway colony and other areas. Questions have also been asked about not taking any action against encroachment.
