Majuli (Assam): Hours after Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a road show in Assam’s Jorhat, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday claimed that a modest number of people attended it and that seeing rhinos in Kaziranga National Park was “more important” than the road show. would be better. He said that members of the Gandhi family are suitable for the advertising campaign. Sharma claimed, “I heard that around 2,000-3,000 people had gathered (at Priyanka Gandhi’s road show). Who will come to meet Priyanka Gandhi? People would prefer to go to Kaziranga and see tigers and rhinos.
‘What is the use of seeing the Gandhi family?’
The senior BJP leader was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an election campaign in Majuli. The CM alleged, “What is the use of seeing the Gandhi family? They look suitable for an Amul (advertising) campaign, hence they are ‘Amul Babies’. It is better to see rhinos in Kaziranga than to catch a glimpse of Amul Baby.”
Road show done in support of Gaurav Gogoi
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday held a road show in Jorhat in support of party candidate Gaurav Gogoi and said the daily wages of tea garden workers would be increased if the opposition alliance wins the Lok Sabha elections. Asked about Gogoi’s electoral prospects, Sharma said, “Some people want to say that Gaurav Gogoi was an active MP. I challenge anyone who can show me a single word spoken by him for Kaliyabor constituency. Has he said a single word for Jorhat, Majuli?
‘Gaurav Gogoi is the spokesperson of Gandhi family’
He alleged, “We do not need any MP raising the slogan of ‘Rahul Gandhi Zindabad’. We need an MP who can raise the problems of Assam. Gaurav is the spokesperson of the Gandhi family. He has not spoken a single word for the people of Assam.” (Language)
