By the way, this is not the first time that such a scene has been seen in the Timber Trail of Solan, but 30 years ago, people’s lives were stuck in the air in the same way. In fact, on October 14, 1992, the trolley suddenly stopped in the same way. At that time the eyes of the whole country were fixed on the unique rescue work of the Indian Air Force. The cable car was 3000 feet above the ground and had 11 people on board. The cable car was about to reach its destination when suddenly there was a jolt and a rope broke. The cable car began to slide backwards. When the operator jumped while trying to jump, his head hit the rock and he died. On the other hand, the cable car came to a halt at an altitude of 1500 feet. Below was the Kaushalya river. The responsibility of rescuing the tourists was entrusted to the Air Force.
The operation was commanded by the then Group Captain Fali H Major, who later became the Chief of the Air Staff, Para Commando Major Ivan Joseph Crestou was instrumental in this operation, who was later awarded the Kirti Chakra. By dusk on 14 October 1992, only half of the passengers could be rescued by the cable car. Everyone else had to spend the night in the cable car. Major Cresto did not leave them alone and stayed in the cable car for the whole night. He sang and entertained the tourists throughout the night to remove the fear from the minds of the tourists.
