New Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal remains the CM of Delhi even after being arrested in the liquor scam. First two applications were filed in Delhi High Court to remove Arvind Kejriwal from the post of CM of Delhi. Delhi High Court had rejected these applications as being beyond its jurisdiction. Now former Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sandeep Kumar has moved the Delhi High Court to remove Arvind Kejriwal from the post of CM. This application of Sandeep Kumar can be heard in Delhi High Court on Monday.
First let us tell you who is Sandeep Kumar? Sandeep Kumar was elected MLA from Sultanpur Majra on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. In the year 2016, Aam Aadmi Party had suspended Sandeep Kumar in the case of objectionable CD. Sandeep Kumar was the Minister of Women and Child Development in Kejriwal’s government at that time. Then in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sandeep Kumar supported the BSP candidate. Due to which the Speaker of Delhi Assembly had declared him ineligible for the post of MLA under the Anti-Defection Act.
Now Sandeep Kumar has filed a quo warranto application in the Delhi High Court. In this petition, Sandeep Kumar has said that Arvind Kejriwal cannot remain CM due to his arrest. Under Quo Warranto application, a person is asked as to with what authority he did any work or took any decision. Let us tell you that the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has described Arvind Kejriwal as the kingpin in the liquor scam case. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the investigating agency after not appearing on ED summons nine times. Rouse Avenue Court had given Arvind Kejriwal on ED remand twice. After which the court sent Kejriwal to Tihar Jail in judicial custody till April 15. Arvind Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the Delhi High Court. A decision is yet to be taken on this also.
