PM Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
New Delhi: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has created a stir in the neighboring countries by visiting India for the second time in just 15 days. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in New Delhi to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held wide-ranging talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is on a two-day visit to India starting Friday, to further enhance cooperation in diverse areas, including trade and connectivity.
This is the first bilateral visit by a foreign leader after the formation of a new government in India after the Lok Sabha elections. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote in a post on social media ‘X’, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Hyderabad House ahead of bilateral talks.” He said, “The two leaders have met ten times since 2019, which has brought about an unprecedented change in relations.” Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina visited Rajghat in the morning and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
Extensive discussions in the field of trade and energy
At this time, the world is facing a huge energy crisis. Therefore, PM Modi’s focus was more on energy needs. Before the talks with the Prime Minister, Hasina was given a ceremonial welcome in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Officials said that the main objective of the Modi-Hasina talks is to give new impetus to bilateral relations, including the areas of trade, connectivity and energy. Hasina was among the seven top leaders of India’s neighbors and the Indian Ocean region who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Council of Ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9. The overall strategic relations between India and Bangladesh have grown rapidly in the last few years. (Language)
