new Delhi. The Prime Minister spoke to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday and expressed concern over the fire at Sariska Tiger Reserve and offered all possible help.
The fire that broke out in the forests of Sariska in Alwar district has spread in an area of 20 km. Helicopters of the Indian Air Force have been pressed into service to douse the fire.
The help of the Air Force has been sought because the part of the forest which has caught fire is home to many tigers.
Soon two army helicopters had arrived on Tuesday morning to douse the fire. Helicopters are collecting water from Siliserh Lake.
Over 200 people, including employees and villagers from three ranges of Sariska, Alwar and Dausa, are engaged in dousing the fire, officials said. Help has also been sought from the army. Several villages in Sariska have been evacuated.
