Attack on China by telling the definition of friendship
Referring to the shortage of food, fuel, fertilizers and medicines, Modi said, “Those who were supposed to be confidants, it was later learned that they did not stand by you in times of need.” Experts are considering this as a sign towards China. The PM said that the old saying has proved true in difficult times – a true friend is the one who helps you in difficult times. Modi further said that I am happy that India stood by the Pacific Island friendly countries in difficult times. He said that India respects its (Papua New Guinea) priorities. Be it humanitarian aid or development, you can look at India as a reliable partner.
India will also share capacity and experience
The Prime Minister’s remarks at the Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation Forum summit in the capital of Papua New Guinea comes at a time when China is adopting an aggressive approach in the region and is trying to increase its influence on the Pacific island countries. Modi is the first PM of India to visit this country. “We are ready to share our capabilities and experiences with you without hesitation, be it digital technology or space technology, health security or food security, climate change… We are with you,” the Prime Minister said. Modi has sought cooperation of Pacific island nations for UN Security Council reforms. He said that the voice of the Global South should be heard in the United Nations Security Council.
