Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cast his vote in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in Ahmedabad on 7th May. Now he is going to file nomination papers. PM Modi will file his nomination papers from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, May 14. During the nomination, many senior leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be present with him. Congress has fielded Ajay Rai in front of PM Modi. A day before filing nomination, he will hold a road show in Banaras. Ajay Rai had filed his nomination papers on Friday, May 10. Bahujan Samaj Party has fielded Athar Jamal Lari on Varanasi seat. Shyam Rangeela is contesting the election as an independent. Voting for Varanasi Lok Sabha seat will be held in the seventh phase on June 1.
PM Modi’s road show will start from Lanka Gate
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s road show in Varanasi is going to be very special in many ways. A glimpse of Mini India will be seen in the Prime Minister’s road show in Banaras itself. Varanasi is also the parliamentary constituency of Narendra Modi and he is representing the country as Prime Minister by winning the elections from here twice in a row. His road show will start from Lanka Gate. From here, his convoy will proceed via Mahamana Murti, Assi Ghat, Sonarpura. After this, the Prime Minister will go to Kashi Vishwanath Temple via Jangambari, Godaulia Chowk, Bans Phatak. During the 5 kilometer long road show, 100 boards have been made, on which a glimpse of all the societies of India can be seen. In these, people from Marathi, Marwari, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi etc. communities and people from different states will be seen welcoming the Prime Minister in their traditional attire. The road show will start at 5 pm and continue till 8 pm. Special preparations have also been made by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Prime Minister’s road show. It is being told that BJP workers from across the country will reach Banaras to welcome PM Modi in the road show.
On May 14, the Prime Minister will file nomination papers after darshan of Baba Kaal Bhairav and special worship of Mother Ganga.
Varanasi Lok Sabha seat
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi defeated Samajwadi Party’s Shalini Yadav by 4,79,505 votes. Ajay Rai of Congress was in third place with 1,52 votes. About 64 percent of the total votes cast in favor of PM Modi were 6,74,664 votes.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal had contested against Narendra Modi from Varanasi seat. In that election, Narendra Modi defeated Arvind Kejriwal by 3,71,784 votes. 56 percent 5,81,022 votes were cast in favor of PM Modi. Arvind Kejriwal got 2.09 lakh votes. Even at that time, Ajay Rai of Congress was in third place with only 75 thousand votes.
