Political turmoil continued in Karnataka on Thursday over the obscene video scandal involving former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson and suspended JD-S leader Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal Revanna’s obscene video has created a stir in the political circles of Karnataka ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, sources said sitting MP and NDA candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency Prajwal Revanna is expected to reach Bengaluru at midnight on May 15. He had sought time to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT has not yet responded to his request. Prajwal Revanna was expected to reach Bengaluru from Frankfurt (Germany) on Friday.
Former driver missing after SIT notice
In another development, the former driver of accused Prajwal Revanna had confessed that he had given the pen drive containing the video of the JD-S leader sexually assaulting women to BJP leader Devaraj Gowda. He is missing after SIT notice. Driver Karthik worked with Prajwal Revanna for 13 years and a year ago they had a dispute over an alleged land deal.
Some influential leaders are behind the driver’s disappearance – HD Kumaraswamy
At the same time, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is alleging that some influential leaders are behind the disappearance of the driver. Pointing towards Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, he has raised the question that who sent Karthik to Malaysia? During a conversation with journalists, Shivkumar asked, “Is Bhai saying this?” It means he knows everything. Let them take information from the central government. I am not crazy to let Karthik go abroad. I am a street fighter. I have no need to do politics by hiding people.” He said that Karthik had claimed that he had given the pen drive containing Prajwal Revanna’s obscene video to BJP leaders. Let the discussion on releasing the pen drive happen later. Let’s be real. Don’t deviate from the point.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal Revanna.
The truth will come out soon – Prajwal Revanna
Prajwal Revanna was suspended from the JD-S on Tuesday morning after the Congress government in Karnataka constituted an SIT to probe allegations of sexual exploitation against him. Prajwal Revanna commented on this issue for the first time on Wednesday. She said that the truth will come out soon. I am not in Bengaluru to attend the inquiry. I have informed Bengaluru CID through my lawyer.
What did the Foreign Ministry say?
Regarding Prajwal Revanna, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “No political approval was neither sought nor issued from the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the visit of the said MP to Germany. Apparently, no visa note was even issued. The Ministry has also not issued any visa note for the said MP to any other country… Yes, he had traveled on a diplomatic passport.”
