The difficulties of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab are going to increase. Dairy farmers have decided to launch an agitation on May 21 against the state government for their demand. Their demand is that the price of milk should be increased by at least Rs 7 per kg. According to Daljit Singh Sadarpura, President of Progressive Dairy Farmers Association, they have high expectations from the government but the government is not paying any attention to their demands, so the dairy farmers have decided to agitate against the government on May 21.
According to Sadarpura, dairy farmers play a big role in running the dairy industry in Punjab. But milk prices have not increased for the last four years while the expenses have increased significantly. In such a situation many farmers are getting buried under debt. He said that at least seven rupees per kg of milk should be increased to get the farmer out of debt and bring the dairy industry back on track.
Sadarpura also said that due to the decrease in milk prices during the Corona period, many dairy farmers have been buried under debt in the last two years. He said that the present Chief Minister of Punjab is paying attention to other farming problems but ignoring the demand of dairy farmers. He said that dairy industry is the best option for farming, but the government is not understanding this, due to which the dairy industry is slowly sitting down.
