New Delhi. Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, the stir has intensified. On the one hand, political parties have geared up, and on the other hand, farmers are now leaving the fields and preparing to plow the political field. In this episode, 22 farmer unions have formed a United Samaj Morcha on Saturday. This Morcha will contest in all 117 constituencies in the Punjab Assembly Election 2022. The party will be led by Balbir Singh Rajewal. This was announced by the United Samaj Morcha in Chandigarh.
In Punjab, ahead of the assembly elections to be held next year, the contest seems to be tough. Because along with political parties, now farmers will also be seen trying their hands in the organization. The United Samaj Morcha of 22 farmers’ organizations has announced that it will contest on all 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly elections.

In fact, till late Friday evening, a meeting of 32 farmer groups was held at Gursharan Kala Bhawan in Mullanpur. After the meeting, the delegation of five farmers made it clear that 22 farmer unions are united for the farmers’ struggle. He said that it is the right of every union to do politics and contest elections. However, everyone can have their own opinion about this.
7 organizations made distance
There are also seven organizations that have decided to distance themselves from contesting elections. One of these is Jai Kisan Andolan. This organization has said that it is not a supporter of the idea of forming an electoral front in the name of SKM on behalf of farmer organizations and will not be a part of any such experiment.

Gurnam Chadhuni has also made a party
Not the first case of farmer organizations, Gurnam Singh Chadhuni, president of Bharatiya Kisan Union Haryana, has also formed a party regarding Punjab elections. He formed the Samyukta Sangharsh Party to contest the Punjab Assembly elections.
The special thing is that the Chadhuni faction is also ready to beat all the 117 seats. He had appointed Arshpal Singh as the president of the Punjab unit.
Advocacy to legalize opium cultivation
In fact, Chadhuni has also advocated for the legalization of opium cultivation in Punjab. In such a situation, special attention will be given to such farmer organizations during elections. A lot will depend on the politics ahead on their performance.
Chadhuni had said that he would work in Punjab to end drug abuse. Upliftment of the poor will be the main priority. There is no dearth of parties in the country. Politicians have made politics a business. The poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer.
