New Delhi. What has someone said a lot, ‘Time does not take time to change’. Many of you must have seen such things in your life, seeing that it must have come out of your mouth that ‘time does not seem to change’. A similar change has been seen with respect to the Adani Silo Plant on Ferozepur Road. Within a year, the picture has completely changed in the minds of the farmers regarding this silo plant. If you still do not understand the matter, then let us tell you, this is the same silo plant which was closed when the farmers were protesting against the three agriculture laws of the Centre. There was a time when it took a lot of effort to get it closed and today farmers are standing in a two kilometer long line on either side of the plant with their tractor trolleys in 42 degree temperature to get wheat stored in this plant. He is standing in a two kilometer long line on either side of the plant with his tractor trolleys in 42 degree temperature. The farmers did not allow this plant to run during the protest against the agricultural laws. As a result, this time the silo plant has got less space of 30-35 tonnes as compared to other years.
Farmers are waiting standing in the sun for 12-12 hours
Due to the sudden increase in the influx of wheat, farmers have to stand in the sun for about 12-12 hours. At the same time, after the farmer’s wheat is stored in half an hour after entering the plant, he also gets the payment slip. Similarly, the payment is also made in the account of the farmer in about 48 hours.
This facility is available from silo plant
It would not be wrong to say that the farmers are getting more profit in the silo plant because while on the one hand it takes four to five days for the farmers to sell their crops in the mandis, on the other hand, the farmers sell their wheat in the silo plant within 6 to 12 hours. Heading back home. While the government agency is refusing to buy food grains citing high moisture content, only the wheat of the mandis allotted to FCI is being stored in the silo plant. The silo plant is on rent with FCI till 2025.
The plant has 16 steel drums with a capacity of 12,500 tonnes.
The silo plant has 16 steel drums with a capacity of about 12,500 tonnes, which are technically made in such a way that there is no effect of heat, cold and rain after wheat is stored inside them. Wheat is preserved in these drums for many years. Talking about the storage capacity of the plant, it is of two lakh metric tonnes. In which the space of 85 thousand metric wheat was vacant till the start of procurement, whereas, till now about 15 thousand metric tonnes of wheat has arrived. Due to farmers’ agitation, this time the space will be less as compared to previous years due to not being able to shift the store wheat from here.
Seven and a half thousand tons of wheat reaching daily
According to the terminal manager of the silo plant, Amandeep Singh, at present seven and a half thousand tonnes of wheat is reaching this plant for storage every day. Every day around 1100 trolleys are landing at the silo plant. Due to which lines of tractor trolleys loaded with wheat are being seen on the highway two kilometers towards Moga and two kilometers towards Ferozepur on both sides of the silo plant.
