Chandigarh. Within 24 hours of gangster Sukhwinder Rana allegedly killing Punjab Police constable Amritpal Singh, he was killed in an encounter with the police on Monday. Rana died in an encounter between police and gangster. He is accused of murdering constable Amritpal Singh during a raid on Sunday.
The encounter took place in Mukerian in Hoshiarpur district, about 20 kilometers from the spot where the constable was killed. Amritpal Singh was shot dead by a gangster when the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team was raiding his house in Hoshiarpur district. Acting on a tip-off, the CIA team raided a house in Mansoorpur village of Mukerian where the gangster had stored a huge amount of illegal weapons.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X, ‘We stand with his family in this hour of grief and will do everything to support them. Our prayers are with his family and close ones.

It is noteworthy that Constable Amritpal Singh was shot dead in the attack on the police team that had come to raid on Sunday in Mansoorpur village, about 66 kilometers from Hoshiarpur. The police team had reached the village to arrest Sukhwinder Singh alias Rana on suspicion of possessing illegal weapons when he was attacked.
As soon as the police team entered the suspect’s house, the accused opened fire, which hit constable Amritpal Singh in the chest. Sukhwinder Singh fled from the spot, while the constable was taken to the hospital, where he died. On Monday, the last rites of Amritpal Singh were performed with full state honors in his native village Jandaur.
