Punjab Voting 2022 LIVE Updates: All 117 seats in Punjab are going to polls on Sunday. Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Samyukta Samaj Morcha (SSM) are contesting on all 117 seats, while Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is contesting on 97 and its ally Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 20 seats. The SAD-BSP alliance has declared Sukhbir Badal as the chief ministerial face. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting on 68 seats, while its allies Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) 34 and Shiromani Akali Dal are contesting on a combined 15 seats. SAD’s patron and five-time chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, 95, is the oldest candidate. Apart from him, Captain Amarinder Singh, who was the Chief Minister after two years, is also in the fray by forming a new party Punjab Lok Congress.

The most interesting battle of Punjab is on Amritsar East seat. From here, Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu and SAD’s Bikram Singh Majithia are face to face. BJP state president Ashwani Sharma is in the fray from Pathankot seat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a rally on this seat. Congress Rajya Sabha member Pratap Singh Bajwa is contesting the assembly elections after ten years. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is contesting from Chamkaur Sahib in Rupnagar and Bhadaur in Barnala district.
