Lucknow. The intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from the very beginning has been to take the state to the top position in the field of tourism and hospitality in the country. In this direction, a new tourism policy was introduced in Yogi-01 for the same purpose. Under this, many concessions were given to those investing in this sector. Aggressive branding was done for the divine and grand Kumbh of Prayagraj, Deepotsav of Ayodhya, Dev Deepawali of Kashi. The result of these continuous efforts of the government was positive. The investment proposition of about Rs 700 crore for this sector in GBC-3 is proof of this. The special thing is that apart from Varanasi in Purvanchal, Gorakhpur has emerged as a new choice of investors. Looking at the investments in different cities in this area, Gorakhpur is the only city that has received the maximum investment in tourism and hospitality.
In GBC 3, a total investment of Rs 648 crore has come in this sector, out of which only Gorakhpur has received investment proposals worth Rs 153.8 crore. These proposals include investment proposal of Rs 82.6 crore from Ashpra Solution Pvt Ltd, Rs 36.2 crore by Continental Developers Pvt Ltd and Rs 35 crore by Saketkunj Landmark Pvt Ltd. After Gorakhpur, if the number of any city comes, then it is Meerut where an investment proposal of Rs 150 crore has come in this area. But this is just for one project.
The UP government is constantly adopting new measures to boost tourism. It is not only about Gorakhpur, but the aim of the government is to take forward the entire Purvanchal region, which was neglected during the previous governments. Along with Gorakhpur, an investment proposal of Rs 22.5 crore has also come in Varanasi. If we add both, total investment of Rs 176.3 crore has been received in the region of Purvanchal. The credit for this goes to the tourism policy brought by CM Yogi in 2018. As a result of this, there has been a huge increase in investment in the tourism sector in the state in the last few years.
Projects worth 3000 crores landed on the ground for tourism development in Yogi 1.0
During the last tenure of CM Yogi, 1084 projects of tourism development worth about three thousand crores have come on the ground. Whereas from 2012 to 2017 only 222 projects worth 820 crores were able to get off the ground. Despite Corona, the number of tourists in the state has increased by 27 percent from 2017 to 2021. More than 125 crore Indian tourists and more than 1.25 crore foreign tourists have come to the state. Due to the increase in the number of tourists, the number of hotels and rooms in the state has also increased. From 2017 to 2019, more than 45 hundred new rooms have been built in the hotels.
